Alleged reporter Jim Acosta embarasses himself - consistently - by personifying anti-Trump bias in the press. I don't care that he's anti-Trump; I care that he either cannot or, as I believe, will not, do his job. Which is to gather information of use or interest to the public and disseminate it.
Below, from Fox News, is Jim's most recent attempt to make news - or more accurately "Fake News" - rather than report it, even to the exclusion of any useful inquiry.
My point here is not primarily that Jim Acosta is a jackass. Any objective observer can see that. Furthermore, it's well documented by his peers and even his White House Press Pass (revocation) history. My point is that he and many others do this constantly and the press will not acknowledge it. This video is just the most recent I had on hand as a case in point.
So, a word about "Fake News"...
Are any of the words Jim used actually false? Probably not; I presume it was indeed 13 hours between the time of the 100,000th US death due to Covid-19 and the President's tweet regarding it. But his intent was false. His intent was obviously to make President Trump seem uncaring, aloof, or perhaps ignorant, none of which there is any (real) reason to believe are even close to true.
If you can't see that Acosta's motive here was to malign Trump, ask yourself these questions:
- Is the question intended to elicit any useful information? About either the virus or public health? Obviously not.
- Was he seeeking to learn about the President's schedule or priorities? MAYBE, after listening to the question the first time, you could believe this. The emphasis in his repetition makes that completely unbelievable, even if you're giving him every bit of doubt available.
- What constructive use could he make of the reason for the delay if he had it? The answer is purely and simply, slander.
He asked no related follow up question to suggest there was some tangent he was actually trying to shed light on. This was just another attack, which he does constantly... (including in the unrelated follow up question not shown.)
Now, if you still can't see that Acosta's motive here was to malign Trump, then you should probably ask yourself how you are going to get dressed in the morning. Otherwise, please read on...
My questions for Jim are:
- Are you implying that the 100,000th death was more important than the 1st? Why, you heartless bastard!!! There now, see how easy it is to do his job :-?
- Where exactly was your expression of sympathy for those 100,000 victims and their families?
- How long a delay is acceptable? 6 hours? 2? Why 2 and not 13?
- By the way - in case you've forgotten - he's the President of the United States of America. He's got other stuff going on in his life.
- What would be an acceptable reason for the delay? Would anything be?
